Natalija Yanekina, or the taste of painting

<...> It‘s obvious that the impressionist school, secession is an important inluence on Natalija. The French painting. French and Russian. Which is good, because we must all find an entrance into the world of art. And then you are on your own, like always in life. You either find your own path, or wander in the role of an adept, paying your tribute to a mirage...

Natalija learned French, discovered her favourite authors in the galleries of the world. But in order to experience that, she had to achieve independence, fight for her right to participate in exhibitions and plainairs. And now the painter is not forcing, but purposefully trying to get rid of those dependencies, and perfectly coping with it!

Her painting is vibrating, decorative, aesthetic; her landscapes and still-lives have unique taste and scent. Colours are the strong side of Natalia‘s work. Combinations of orange, turquoise, violet, brown, blue, their unexpected relations are a new discovery for Lithuanian painting. The pictures radiate subtlety, accuracy, devotion; original yet simple compositions emphasize the painter‘s personal relation with things around. A typcial feature is prolonged dissymmetry of objects, emphasis on a detail that is clearly distinguished by its colouristic combination.

Yanekina‘s painting is multilayered, she likes thick strokes of rich texture that enliven the picture and enrich its surface. In this way the contour of object becomes emphasised, and the effect of shimmer is achieved. One can never notice that in the photographs of her works.

With the help of colour combinations and relations of objects Natalija recreates moods, states that she has experienced while watching the reality. Titles of her works as well as depicted objects show the painter‘s habit of living deep in the atmosphere, to feel not only the real forms, but also the ephemeric shapes: the spirit of a space, the breathing, the conversations of things, the condition of their owner. <...>
